CQI-11 Plating System Assessment Internal Auditor Course

A Plating System Assessment is a structured evaluation used to establish whether plating operations are effectively controlled, consistently implemented and capable of meeting automotive customer and quality requirements. AIAG CQI-11 is the assessment that plating suppliers across the automotive supply chain are measured against, and a weak plating process shows up late, as corrosion, adhesion failure or coating thickness variation on parts already in the field.

This two-day course develops the competence to audit a plating system against the CQI-11 requirements. Participants work through the standard clause by clause, cover process tables and job audits, plan and run a mock audit, write findings, and follow corrective actions through to verified closure. Group exercises and real plating case studies run through both days.

Day 2: Audit Execution and Reporting

1Conducting the AuditKey steps and techniques for a process audit, gathering objective evidence through observation and interview, and the non-conformities and findings that recur in plating systems. Group exercise: a simulated plating process audit.

2Reporting Audit FindingsWriting an effective audit report, documenting non-conformities, observations and opportunities for improvement, and corrective action requests and follow-up procedures. Group exercise: writing a sample report from mock findings.

3Corrective Actions and Follow-UpAddressing non-conformities, root cause analysis and why it matters, and establishing follow-up mechanisms to verify that corrective actions were effective. Group discussion on corrective action case studies.

4Closing the AuditClosing out with the management team, reviewing findings, agreeing action plans, and continuous improvement strategies in plating systems.

5Exam and FeedbackA short exam or quiz to assess understanding, followed by group feedback and course conclusion.
